Dental Benefits

Dental benefits are included as part of the Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan. For enrolled students, your coverage includes:

  • One routine dental examination per academic year. Note addresses below.
  • X-rays, as needed, and with routine exam
  • One dental cleaning (prophylaxis) per academic year
  • Evaluation of emergency dental conditions, including relief of pain
  • A $20 copay per visit
  • A 25% discount off self-pay fees on additional services

These dental benefits are operated by ColumbiaDoctors Dentistry and are not underwritten by Aetna or administered by Aetna Student Health.

Voluntary Dental Plan

We are pleased to announce Aetna Student Health is offering a Dental Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan to Columbia University students enrolled in The Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan and their eligible dependents for the 2023-24 academic year. Enrollment in this voluntary dental plan is open to all registered students and their eligible dependents. Coverage is effective on January 1, 2024.

Key Details about the Voluntary Dental Plan

  • Enrollment Period: January 1 - February 15
  • Coverage Period: January 1 - August 14, 2024 (aligns with the Columbia University Student Health Insurance Plan)
  • Plan Premium: $439 (Student Only, dependent coverage available at an additional cost)
