Support After Recent Violence in Monterey Park, CA

January 23, 2023

This weekend’s mass shooting at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park, CA, during a Lunar New Year celebration, is yet another disturbing instance of senseless violence and harm against Asian-identified people. We understand the grief, anger, exhaustion, and pain of reexperiencing and witnessing continued acts of targeted violence in our communities that deepen the wounds of trauma. During this time, we encourage you to be gentle with yourself and kind to one another and to seek support and care, as needed.

Student Health on Haven is offering several options for students to reflect, connect, and access support on Monday, January 23.

  • Counseling Services is offering a group support session from 4-5 p.m. on Monday, January 23 in the Multipurpose Room on the 3rd floor of 100 Haven (Tower 2).
