Student Health Impact Partnership

Health and well-being are foundational to students' ability to thrive. At CUIMC, student well-being doesn’t happen in isolation—it’s shaped by the entire campus community. Through the Student Health Impact Partnership, we work collectively to challenge the status quo and make a meaningful impact.

The Student Health Impact Partnership (SHIP) is a collective, interprofessional initiative that brings together students, staff, and faculty at CUIMC in a structured way to achieve community-level and system-wide change.

SHIP:

  • Addresses multi-layered student mental health and well-being concerns
  • Pulls from the expertise of those working with Health Professions students and from students themselves
  • Aligns with evidence-supported, data-informed best practices for well-being and health promotion in higher education
  • Examines the structural determinants of CUIMC student health and well-being through an inclusive lens
  • Uses a Collective Impact framework

Current SHIP Initiatives

As of spring 2025, SHIP has four active working groups: Policies and Protocols, Mental Health Literacy, Curriculum Infusion, and Connection and Belonging. Learn more about the current work, including how to get involved. Questions? Email studentwellbeing@cumc.columbia.edu.
